trips out and about

glensideTrips out are a valuable part of our nursery experience and what wonderful resources we have on the Island! We are fortunate to have so many great places we can walk to, too. We give our thanks to all the willing parents and volunteers for giving up their time to help out and support us. These are just a few highlights:

Tot Lot in Nobles Park. The children from our Toddler Floor often walk to here. They enjoy playing on the swings and slides and having an ice lolly. The children come back happy and tired!!

Ballaneddin Farm. Farmer David introduced us the cows and sheep and we met 12 day old lambs! Belinda from NFU explained to the children about how flour is made and the children were able to tell Belinda which foods flour is found in. We finished off the day by singing “The Farmers in the Den”!

Horses Home. A toddler visit to feed the horses, as well as the donkeys and the children were able to “drive” the tram.

The Grandstand and TT stands. We enjoyed a walk to visit and see the various types of racing motorbike and sidecars, and listening to the exciting sounds and smells of gasoline from the race track.

Silverdale for a walk to look at the wildlife. Kath from the Manx Wildlife Trust took the children on their walk. The children managed to spot a chaffinch and wagtail some Jackdaws and where they were nesting, and were able to smell the garlic.

Regular trips to Marathon Court. The children walk here and perform dances, traditional nursery rhymes or Christmas songs they have learnt at nursery. They also hand out gifts to the residents and they were gratefully received.
Glenside Visit

Trip to Glenside Residential home. We sang and we danced and read poetry together. The children presented the residents with a minature daffodil they had planted for their windowsill. A ray of sunshine to leave with them. It is wonderful to observe the old and young interacting together – magical.
