Something new is coming to Victoria House Nursery!
We’re delighted to announce that our Toddlers and Pre-School groups at Victoria House will be enjoying weekly sessions with Drama Tots — the award-winning performing-arts programme for little ones.
What is Drama Tots?
Drama Tots is a lively, interactive, high-energy programme designed for children aged 18 months to 5 years. It brings together drama, music, movement, storytelling, imaginative play and plenty of fun, exploring a new and exciting theme each week.
Designed to be used in nurseries, pre-schools and early years settings, Drama Tots enriches the EYFS curriculum through performing arts.
In each session, children might sing, dance, act, use puppets and props, move with parachutes or obstacles, and respond to imaginative story prompts, all in a safe, nurturing, friendly environment. The sessions are structured to help children grow in confidence and creativity, while having a tremendous amount of fun.
Drama Tots has earned a strong reputation among parents and early years professionals. It has won multiple “Most Loved Performing Arts Activity” awards and is regularly praised for how much children enjoy the sessions.
Why we’re so excited
Bringing Drama Tots into Victoria House offers several real benefits to your children:
-
Boosting communication and language skills. Through acting, storytelling, role play and dramatic responses, children practice listening, responding, retelling and improvising.
-
Encouraging creativity, imagination and self-expression. Drama Tots gives children the freedom to “become” someone or something else, play with ideas and stories, move their bodies and use props in imaginative ways.
-
Building confidence and social skills. The sessions are group-based, playful and inclusive. Children learn to take turns, share space and ideas, collaborate, respond to each other and gradually feel safer expressing themselves.
-
Supporting physical development through movement and music. The sessions incorporate music, dance and movement, helping to develop gross and fine motor skills, coordination and spatial awareness.
-
Aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage. Drama Tots is explicitly written to complement EYFS goals: it supports personal, social and emotional development, communication and language, physical development, and expressive arts and design.
In short, Drama Tots fits beautifully with Victoria House’s vision of offering rich, varied learning opportunities and helping children discover their passions.
Where Drama Tots fits in our programme
We already offer a range of enrichment activities including weekly music and piano lessons and Spanish language sessions and Drama Tots now adds a fresh performing-arts dimension to that offer.
Each toddler and pre-school child at Victoria House will have the chance to participate in a weekly Drama Tots session. These will complement the rest of our curriculum, giving children another way to explore:
-
movement, rhythm and musicality
-
story, role play and imaginative thinking
-
language and expression
-
social interaction and confidence building
We expect Drama Tots sessions to become a firm favourite among the children. Watching their imaginations soar, seeing them join in role play, responding to storytelling prompts, singing and dancing, all of that in a playful group setting, promises to bring a lot of joy to our nursery days.
What to expect
-
Drama Tots sessions will begin next week, for both Toddlers and Pre-School groups.
-
We’ll follow a weekly thematic programme, meaning each session builds around a new discovery or adventure: for example, “Under the Sea”, “People Who Help Us”, “Space”, “Weather”, or seasonal festivals and celebrations.
-
Your child won’t just be watching: they’ll be singing, dancing, moving, pretending, interacting, using props, sometimes puppets, maybe parachutes or bubbles — all designed to spark imagination and encourage them to participate.
-
Drama Tots is designed to bring out every child’s ability to shine. There’s no pressure, no “performance anxiety”, just playful exploration, led by trained facilitators in a nurturing environment.
